This episode tells of the debutante season to be held, chaired by Celia, the grandmother of Serena Van der Woodsen. A fundraising party involving students and upper-class societies. In this dance, Blair feels fortunate to be paired with Prince Theodore. Since her relationship with Nate was destroyed, and secretly she continued her secret date with Chuck, Blair saw Nate as a person who was getting moody and tormented from day to day. On the contrary, Nate sees Blair as a cheerful, shining, and expressive girl. And it seems that Nate is beginning to miss the Blair of his life.
As a grandchild of the dance party chairman, Serena just refused to be a participant in the event. She argues that the event is very tedious, old-fashioned, and full of showing off the social status that each participant possesses. But the arrival of Celia, to the Upper East Side to take care of the party is used by Serena to introduce Dan to her favorite grandmother.
In the presence of Serena, Celia manages to show her interest in Dan. However, Celia immediately underlines her acquaintance with Dan due to know her last name, Humphrey.
In the meantime, Nate then ventured to Blair at her residence to volunteer himself as a Blair companion at the dance event to be held. Received good intentions of Nate who wanted to restart good relationships between them as friends, Blair accepted Nate's invitation, and canceled her agenda with Prince Theodore who had previously planned to be her companion. Knowing this, Chuck finds himself accepting indirect rejection from Blair.
On the other hand, Jenny went to her father who was rearranging his art gallery to ask for permission that she be allowed to volunteer at dance at the request of Lily Van der Woodsen. Rufus and Alison certainly did not give their permission to Jenny, because by chance the dance event coincided with the holding of the exhibition of Alison's paintings in Rufus's gallery. Jenny angry. And of course Alison was very disappointed because knowing Jenny prefer to receive requests from Lily compared with her own request.
At the residence of Van der Woodsen, Celia reveals her little secret to Lily, that she has a lung disease. That's why Celia put forward one thing that might be biased so as her last request, that Serena must follow the debutante to boast about it. Lily and Serena also inevitably have to accept the request of the Celia. Upon approval Dan, Serena was finally willing to go to the dance event to be held.
Serena who invites Dan to the banquet at her residence, then introduced by Celia with Carter Baizen - a man who once had a dispute with Nate and Chuck about fraud and theft. Celia chooses Carter to be Serena's companion at the debutante show. At the banquet, Celia shows her displeasure with Dan. Celia came and expressed her opinion that it was not the same person as Serena, which would be more suitable if it had a chaperone. With her sharp words, intimidating Dan to end his relationship with Serena. But Dan, apparently a tough guy, he does not flinch. Dan was surprising to say in front of Celia and Serena that he was to be Serena's companion at the debutante, replacing Carter position. Serena, of course, was very happy, without knowing what caused Dan made the decision suddenly.
Over the surprise, Celia then launches the next attack on the Humphrey's family by visiting rufus in his art gallery. celia again intimidates Rufus to order and leave Serena, by trying to reward a very large by buying all the paintings that are in the Rufus's gallery.
Feeling lowered by the attitude of Celia, Rufus refuses the bribe of Celia unfairly, and in fact supports Dan to show Celia of how tough and honorable man in Humphrey family. Rufus did not want Dan feel the same with him in the past, that he never felt the rejection of the cries when he was still in a relationship with Lily.
Then, the time came for the debutante event. When he picked up Serena, Dan carefully conveyed an honesty he felt about Celia, that Celia was the most manipulative. Serena, of course feel offended and defend Celia. Serena ask Dan to go and no need to be her companion in the debutante event.
Before, in a separate time and place, Nate asks for Chuck help to find out if there are other men who Blair like, associated with a more cheerful mood swings change. Because of the personal interest he had about Blair, Chuck finally mentioned Carter as a man approaching Blair.
At the time of the event, Serena starts to find out what Dan say is true because the presentation material she gave to the event organizer has been changed by someone, and Serena sure that Celia should be responsible for it. Serena then shows her fangs to Celia by replacing her presentation material with a decryption that embarrasses her in front of audiences. Then Lily became aware that do not get Serena feel the pain she had felt first because she had to part with the man she loved because of intervention of Celia. That's why then Lily comes to Dan, and invites Dan returns to the dance to accompany Serena, with the first Lily expressing her consent the relationship between Dan and Serena. Dan certainly felt very flattered by the attitude of Lily, and agreed to go back to the dance party.
With the return of Serena together Dan, Celia begins to feel that her own defenses have been crushed against her own grandchild and daughter. While Lily, begins to feel the serenity by letting Serena and Dan together continue the relationship. But Rufus, suffered tremendous sadness and regret when he knew that he should not have let go of Lily because of the intimidation that Celia was doing to their relationship.
Meanwhile, on another occasion when the dance party was going on, a Nate who was already annoyed at Carter, hit Carter in front of everyone when Carter looked close to Blair. It makes Blair re choosing Nate as true love. And Chuck, choose to go away from Blair and Nate.
