In the last episode, it was revealed that Serena is actually Dan's dream girl as a child, starting when only Serena greet Dan at a birthday party in class 9 a few years ago. And after Serena and Dan spending a short night attending a music concert, apparently Serena also liked Dan because of his good, responsible, humorous, and polite manner. Serena acknowledges her feelings only to her little brother, Eric.
One previous episode has well given the introduction of a character briefly in line with the storyline presented, along with various intrigues and different interests of each character. This time, the story begins with a party preparation organized by Bart Bass, father of Chuck. He held an annual lunch for his foundation, and everyone was invited.
The annual event became one of the important events for Lily, Serena's mother, who was a socialite in jetset, so she wanted Serena to be present in the event. Serena, who is preparing to visit Blair at her residence, must face her mother's persuasion not to be late for the lunch.
Serena really wants to talk to Blair, because Serena feels Blair begins to show her refusal to interact with her. But Serena intentions do not get good reception from Blair. Openly Blair refuses Serena to get close to her, and Blair expresses her disappointment and hurt to Serena because Serena had sex with Nate in the past.
In the meantime, shortly after Serena leave, Dan come to The Palace looking for Serena. Dan also met with Nate who waiting for Serena. At that moment, by chance Chuck appeared in The Palace, the hotel that belonged to his family. The commotion was about to occur between Dan and Chuck, in connection with the behavior of Chuck against Jenny, Dan's little sister.
Guilty, she went back to The Palace, where she stayed for a while as long as her house was being renovated. Then she found Dan waited for her in The Palace, overcast in her heart was immediately dissapear with Dan presence. Until then, Serena and Dan came together to a Bass's family lunch.
But it turns out that the decision to invite Dan to the event seems to be a fatal mistake. Because their arrival to the party was greeted with hatred that emanated from the eyes of Blair and Chuck who also attended the event. Nate, who knows the arrival of Serena, tries to invite Serena to talk privately to solve the problem between them, and Nate wants to try to explain to Serena that Blair already knows what they did in the past, and that's why she does not want him to talk to Serena again. That's why Nate gives Chuck's key suite to Serena to keep their conversation. Serena agreed, she went to Chuck's suite and waited for Nate there. But apparently, Chuck also gave his suite keys to Blair for her can take advantage of the opportunity to be together with Nate.
New problems occur when Blair and Nate go into Chuck's suites and find Serena to be there, waiting for Nate. Blair who get angry, then look for Dan. Serena and Nate try to prevent Blair, but they lose fast. Blair has met Dan, along with Chuck, and Serena also Nate. Blair then dismantle the disgrace that Serena and Nate do in the past. And it succeeds in breaking the Serena and Dan's relationship.
Serena hope Dan can understand her, but he does not accept apology for Serena.
Serena van der Woodsen, a popular woman, now has absolutely no one, a close friend or even a girlfriend. And in her quest this time, Dan managed to find Serena, but at the same time lost it.
